Nevar's Bio
Spawned sometime in the early 80's, Nevar took up rapping early this millennium (or maybe late last one, I dunno...coulda been) after realizing that being a graph writer just didn’t pull the chicks like he'd been led to believe.
After a couple of years freestyling with a crew of junkies who were in out of lock-up he decided to get serious. Hooking up first with DJ Chems, he started working on his unique style of arrogant narcotic fuelled boastfulness. Things however took a turn for the worst when Chems, strung out on dope but generally clueless, hocked his turnies, mixer and wax, making the recording of their debut EP “Straight Outta Motherfucking Scarborough” impossible
Not to be deterred Nev kept on keeping on, writing tracks and making occasional appearances on Perth radio, eventually taking the reins on the Heritage FM Hip Hop Show (with Hunter) and local institution Gettin' Hectic. As well as hosting some of Perth’s best “up and coming MC's” and rapping at the usual places you'd expect to find degenerate rappers on the west coast, Nevar was responsible for the “Open Mic Combat” MC Battles at the Rosemount (yeah, that shit was before 8 mile)
In early 2004, after repeated attempts on his life due to massive amounts of money owed to Vietnamese gangsters, Nev fled Perth, bound for an undisclosed location on the eastern seaboard. After 18 months or in hiding, soaking up the sun on Sydney’s insular peninsula, he surfaced in St Kilda.
It was during this period, spent in St Kilda's formally seedy red light district, that the Bad Influence was cooked up, filtered and whacked.
3 Tracks of Hip Hop that sounds like, well, hip hop. Beats made from breaks and loops and a rapper who you can actually understand, who actually rhymes (crazy, I know)
Though he's currently in hiding somewhere on the east side of Sydney, you can be sure he's still working, smashing up the MPC and writing the kind of juvenile lyrics that make Stan Zemanek sound like a rational thinker.
There’s no working title for the new release yet, but it'll probably be something to do with dope
